My University’s Contribution

University Contributions

I have traveled to universities across the United States each with different contribution amounts. I have found college and university contributions can vary widely. The information below provides the contributions of several randomly selected public and private colleges and universities.  You will see the organization, followed by the employee contribution, and last the employer contribution.

Brown University    2.00% – 8.00%
Chadron State College    6.00% – 8.00%
Coker College    7.50% – 7.50%
Colorado State University    8.00% – 9.00%
Grand Valley State University    0.00% – 12.00%
University of Colorado    5.00% – 10.00%
University of Denver    4.00% – 8.00%
University of Wyoming    0.00% – 11.25%
Vanderbilt University    5.00% – 5.00%
Western Michigan University    0.00% – 11.00%

Please note, retirement plans can vary for each university.  For example, Colorado State University does not participate with Social Security.  In addition, some plans may be voluntary while others are mandatory.  However, this should provide a benchmark to compare your university’s contribution.  All contributions were provided by the university’s benefits department or website.  Please check with each university to check the accuracy of each contribution amount listed.  This information was updated as of 2010.
